The City of Edinburg, Department of Solid Waste Management, will be collecting Christmas trees from residents. The collection will be done from Jan. 3 through 21 on brush collection days.

Edinburg residents are urged to place their Christmas trees next to the curb for collection. Trees must be free of decorations, tinsel, flocking and stands. Flocked trees should be placed with brush for regular brush collection.

The collected trees will be recyled into pine mulch and will be made available to the public.

The City of Edinburg would also like to encourage citizens to recycle all wrapping paper, Christmas cards and cardboard boxes. Items may be dropped off at the Reycling Center, 3102 S. Bus. 281. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. closed on holidays.

For more information on free mulch, please call the Recycling Center at 292-2133.
