In a time when the housing market is showing signs that it is beginning to emerge from a long slump, the Edinburg Home Buyers Expo hopes to attract potential homebuyers and show them what is out there in the market.

In the city of Edinburg building permits held steady in the first three months of 2009. In March a total of 112 residential and commercial permits were granted.

The 2nd Annual Edinburg Home Buyers Expo to be held on Saturday, April 18 at the Echo Hotel and Conference Center will help potential buyers obtain more information in what is out there for purchase.

The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be free to the public.

The main goal of the event is to educate and inform Edinburg residents and others interested about many topics regarding the housing market.

“We want people from around the area to come to the expo and learn more and get all the information,” said Elva Jackson Garza of Edwards Abstract and Title Co. and the Edinburg Home Buyers Expo chair.

The Edinburg Homebuyers Expo will offer information and resources to prospective home buyers from all income levels ranging from low, middle and higher income groups. All programs and presentations will be presented in both English and Spanish.

Rio Valley Reality, Horizon Properties and Red Rock Development will give presentations in finding the right home and property, foreclosed property information and the types of resources needed to find a home.

International Bank of Commerce, Inter National Bank and Wells Fargo Home Mortgage will present information on mortgage loans, the loan process and pre-qualifying information.

A presentation by Southwest Community Investment Corporation and Capital Farm Credit will give presentations on the home buyer’s assistance program for first time buyers, repairing credit and financing.

“We want to invite and encourage any Edinburg resident that is considering purchasing a lot or home in the short or long term, to take advantage of all of the valuable information that will be distributed at the Edinburg Home Buyers Expo,” said Garza. “Information regarding commercial properties will also be available through the various real estate companies, developers and lenders who will be on hand throughout the day,” she added.
