The Boys and Girls Club of Edinburg held a groundbreaking for their $11 million facility on Nov. 30 at 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 281 and Rogers Road.
The scope of the project will include a 13-acre park with two gymnasiums, a track, a pavilion, football fields and walking trails. The building itself will consist of 32,700 square feet, and will be a dedicated facility for children.
B&G will partner with several school entities particularly the IDEA Academy of the Rio Grande Valley. The building will also include two technology labs, a library, a game room, an arts center and a media center, and will be Edinburg’s first, and the Valley’s second, LEED-certified facility designed with energy conservation, water efficiency and CO2 emission reduction measures in place from the start.
