Hope you are all above water, and had no flooding or wind damage. As of this writing, yours truly doesn’t know any hurricane results, and I am hoping for the best along with the rest of the Valley . . .
Best wishes to Karlee Hickman & Josh Loch, who might have tied the knot last Saturday, July 3rd, depending upon the weather. True love will win out!
Saw lots of fun info about McAllen Junior League provisionals in the JLM latest newsletter. For example, Kristal Flores’s hometown is Richland, Washington . . .
Kristina Cavazos’s favorite thing about the Valley is South Padre Island. I am currently crossing my fingers for SPI . . .
Found out that provisional Melissa Martinez is an attorney as well as a mom, and Laura Downing is a teacher . . .
As for dream vacations, Erica de la Garza would love to go to Hawaii with her whole family, and Patty Sanchez would choose Egypt. (Told you these were fun facts!)
You might bump into provisional Jessica Villarreal at Roosevelt’s at 7, where she is a partner. And aren’t you all proud of McAllen for all of our restaurants and night life establishments?
All of the above-mentioned young women joined the Junior League of McAllen for opportunities to serve their community, so thank you ladies. An example of JLM’s community good is their scholarship program. Congratulations to JLM scholarship recipients Vanessa Salinas, Anissa Amilhamja, and Kayla Ann Handy from McHi.
JLM scholarship winners from Memorial High are Jessica Escalante, Bari Rabinovich, and Franchesca Loza. From Rowe High School, congrats to Trisha Molano, Eduardo Diaz Santana, and Jacob Andrew Chapa. These winners were from Lamar Options Academy: Lesly E. Reynaga, Sara Maatouk, and Priscilla A. Orozco . . .
Talked to Thelma Vela lately about stocks ‘n stuff, so thank you Thelma! And a post-tempest thank you to neighbors who were out clearing the storms drains, such as Bill Jones and Bob McClure . . .
Happy birthday for yesterday to Gayle Neuhaus, Erika Faubion, Shirley Schultz, and my sis-in-law Diana Seitz . . .
For today, birthday cheer goes out to Cynthia Mills, Lily Torrez, Ana Maria Moon, and Sally Bullis . . .
And for tomorrow, birthday greetings are in order for Tita Longoria and Beverly Stansberry. Carrie Agar has one coming up this weekend . . .
Do have an item or a humorous anecdote of “surviving the storm” to share? E-mail me with the news at firstname.lastname@example.org. Hard to believe, but the weather channel in the backgroup just showed a couple of hotshots surfing in the incoming storm’s churning waves. Just don’t blame the Coast Guard if they can’t find you!
