The Magic Valley Chorus of McAllen has won the coveted MOST IMPROVED CHORUS AWARD for the second year in a row from Region 10 of Sweet Adelines International.

This award is awarded annually to the women’s barbershop chorus in their region that improves its score the most dramatically from the previous year. Magic Valley Chorus has now won this award in 2009 and 2010, and is the first chorus in this region to ever win this award two years in a row. Another accolade for Magic Valley Chorus is that in that same competition, in a field of 13 competing choruses, Magic Valley Chorus won third place medals, scoring third place in the small chorus division. The Regional Competition, sanctioned by Sweet Adelines International, was held in Houston on March 27. Under the direction of Janie Macchiaroli, with 22 members on stage, Magic Valley Chorus sang the up-tune “I’m Sitting On Top Of The World” and the ballad “Strangers.”

Magic Valley Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International, the world’s largest organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance.
