The public is invited to attend the annual Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans War Memorial of Texas, 29th and Galveston Streets, McAllen.

Music will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the ceremony will start at 11. U.S. Army Command Sgt. Major Richard Clem will be the keynote speaker for the ceremony. He is a graduate of Edinburg High School and has served all over the world in various capacities and has recently returned from a deployment in Afghanistan.

Also during the ceremony, plans will be announced regarding the upcoming construction of the 105-foot granite spire at the center of the memorial complex. This magnificant spire, named “The American Spire of Honor,” will have five sides to represent the branches of the military.

The South Texas Indian Dancers will perform a dance to honor and thank all of the veterans of our nation.
