Congratulations to these local girls who competed in the Houston Fall Invitational Ice Skating Tournament over Labor Day weekend: Claire Garcia, Alexis Bianco, Devon Bradley, Nina Viertel, Brianna Champion, Kimberly Escobar, Ilynn Rocha, and Jordan Wilkins. They are students at Joy Wells Figure Skating School of the Rio Grande Valley . . .

Had fun visiting with Norma Gomez, Berry Fritz, Norma Woolsey, Alice & Kathe Tavarez, Yolanda Barrera, Linda Garza, and Maria Teresa Garza at McAllen Pan American Round Table last week. They had many suggestions about an upcoming Mexican food menu — can’t wait!

Our own talented artiste Berry Fritz just finished a painting of the old jail in Edinburg to commemorate the jail’s 100th anniversary. The painting will be auctioned off at the Museum of South Texas Hisory’s andango! on October 23rd. Watch for this event . . .

Also saw Ambarina Barrera, Sylvia Cardenas, Tula Sanchez, Lily Torrez, Darda Cardenas, Ana Maria Moon, Mary Lou Treviño, Mandy Peña, and many other ladies enjoying the camaraderie of PART . . .

Saw Edie Virkus, Ann Brandt, Dr. John Gerling, Janet Wallace, Mary Garza, and new Director Joseph Bravo at an International Museum of Art & Science Advisory Board meeting . . .

We all enjoyed the reception for artist Charles Criner which followed. You should check out his colorful work, a portrait of his upbringing in Texas. Met IMAS board member Ken Grams and his wife Angie, also saw board member Tom Woolsey . . .

Had fun phone visits with Betty Coffman, Barbara Parry, Darlene Hart, Peggy Nix, Jeanne Semler, Pam Wingate, and many other ladies last week. My spouse questioned why I volunteered to be on a telephone committee — duh!

Celebrating birthdays yesterday were Denys Branham, Cole Abbott, and George Glass; while Bill Robertson can celebrate today . . .

A possible belated happy birthday for last month, August 26th, is wished for Ninfa Estimbo, called in by mom Ida Estimbo. Sorry about that — thought it was in, but somehow my computer might possibly have omitted the info . . .
