PSJA High School Math Team won the State Championship at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) State Meet held in San Antonio March 20.

“This is a back-to-back state championship for our team,” Alvaro Leal, PSJA HS teacher and UIL Math Varsity Coach said. “We are very proud of our team.”

The team beat Houston North Shore, Houston Dulles, Houston Klein Magnate School and other top 27 schools in the state.

The following students placed in State:

Senior Division — 1st Place Julian Caballero (State Champion)

2nd Place Chris Villarreal

3rd Place James Martinez

Junior Division — 1st Place Danny Caballero (State Champion and record holder)

Sophomore Division — 2nd Place Jonathan Montalvo

4th Place Rolando Botello

Freshmen Division — 6th Place Valerie Lopez

Coaching the students are PSJA HS Teacher Alvaro Leal, Varsity Coach and San Juan Middle School teacher Adrian Leal, Freshmen Coach.
