Trevor Risica has been involved with the Rio Grande Valley Livestock show for the last six years.

The 15-year-old freshman at McAllen High School once again is gearing up his goats and rabbits for the 71st Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show which runs through the March 12-21.

“The goats are fun because you get to work with them,” Risica said. “I show rabbits, too, but you can’t really do anything with them.”

Risica started raising goats because his cousin was raising goats.“My uncle showed me how to raise them (goats) and I just liked them ever since,” Risica said.

For Risica, the future might involve the animals he’s been working with for some time now.

“I could see myself doing this in the future like being a vet or an ag teacher,” Risica said. “We have a feed yard in San Manuel and I got out there every Thursday with my grandma.”
