Town Crier Staff

Tis the season is the reason for giving. The City of San Juan in partnership with the San Juan Economic Development Corporation is seeking sponsors from local and surrounding businesses for the 2008 annual Christmas Festival. Committee members are proud to unveil the new name for the festival, “Noche de Paz.” Please help make this year’s event the biggest and brightest Christmas has ever seen.

Hosted in the middle of Downtown San Juan between 1st and 4th Street on Nebraska, the festival will begin at 1 p.m. with Santa’s Arts N Crafts Workshop, PD Blue Santa Photo-Spot, vendor mercado, kiddie rides, food, music and special school performances. San Juan’s annual Lighted parade will begin at 6:30 p.m.

To encourage community participation, the Christmas committee hosted a name contest with the local PSJA schools. Out of all the entries submitted, PSJA High’s Andrew Sanchez’ name was selected to describe the 200-plus blocks of ice that will be brought in to transform San Juan’s downtown area with snow. Chill Fest will begin at 6 p.m.

Mixed cover band, JRS, also known as Jack Rabbit Slim dazzles the crowd with an eclectic mix of music from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Duke’s Car Club of San Juan is sponsoring a car show during Noche de Paz. If you are interested in showing your prized beauty, please call Mike or Janie Flores at (956) 781-9430 for details.

If your business is interested in being a sponsor, there are five different levels of sponsorships. We are also accepting parade entries and booth space vendors. For further more please contact San Juan EDC at (956) 783-3448 or the San Juan Parks and Recreation Department at (956) 702-6448.
