As Tropical Storm Alex makes its way to South Texas, The University of Texas-Pan American will officially close the main campus and all of its satellite locations – South Padre Island, McAllen, Rio Grande City – today, Tuesday, June 29, at 10 p.m. after the end of the last scheduled class.
UTPA will remain closed Wednesday, June 30; Thursday, July 1; and Friday, July 2. The University anticipates resuming regular classes and office services Monday, July 5; however UTPA administrators are encouraging students, faculty and staff to monitor local television and radio stations for the latest information on the storm and for any change in the UTPA schedule.
For parents who have children residing on campus and are unable to make other housing arrangements, the University Police will be available at (956) 665-7151 to assist them with any information regarding the safety of their child.
