Ladies of the McAllen Pan American Round Table are es-pecially grateful to Channel 5’s Jordan Williams for giving us quite an interesting program about Haiti at last week’s meet-ing. He had spent a week in Haiti after the earthquake as an “embedded journalist” with a medical team. Our hearts were moved . . .
My tablemates Norma Gomez, Marilyn Matthews, Sandra Imhoof, Kathe Tavarez, Alice Tava-rez, Maria Teresa Garza, Dardanella Cardenas and I all enjoyed the program and then did our best with the raffle for Haitian relief . . .
We were happy to have our state official, Elsie Perez from Edinburg, as a visitor . . .
Marlou Levine did her best to have us all signed up for Pan American Ob-servance Day next month, and Mary Lou Treviño was lining up the scholar-ship committee’s work . . .
Saw Jean Palmer when she was in town for a bridge tournament last week. She and Florence Veale had a chance to visit, too . . .
Saw these folks having fun at a dining out oppor-tunity: Gretchen Garrett & L. D. Clopton, Sandra & Mike Frost, Bob Hawkins, and Debbie & Greg Morrow, who are also good at walking for exercise. I should do that more, too, since my Chihuahua walks pretty slowly . . .
Met Dr. Holly Horn while tak-ing that same reluctant dog in for her shots. Amazing how a dog can shake its little furry body all over in the waiting room . . .
And a good time was had by all at the “Moon Over Mazatlan” fundraiser last week. Spotted having an environmentally great time, enjoy-ing the Glen Miller music, were the likes of Marsha & Ted Ross, Susie & Bill Robertson, Karen & Phil Hunke, Yolanda & Jim Ketter, Raymond Jen-kins, Becky & Rick Guerra, and Ann Moore . . .
The Box family was out in force, with Jerry, Blake, and Brooke & Braedon . . .
Great viewing has been going on with the men’s Futures Tennis Tourna-ment at McAllen Country Club. Lau-rie Lozano did an excellent job with housing for these future pro tennis stars from all over the world . . .
Happy belated birthday for last Sunday, March 7th, to Artie Virdell, who coincidentally happens to be a neighbor. And another belated happy birthday for last Sunday goes out to Diana Williams of Mission, and to Car-men Guerra for Monday past . . .
Birthday cheer for yesterday is wished to Lezlie Richards, Jane Mc-Gilvray, and Rick Buell. And celebrat-ing today are Laurie Mohel and Elda Sinder . . .
For tomorrow, birthday greetings are wished to Kathryn Chacra, Carol Dearth, Sandra Cararas, and Michelle Zulaica from your son Avery and your mom Maria Elena and Omar . . .
And finally, happy upcoming birth-day to Gregoria Ortiz of Edinburg, for this Friday, March 12th . . .
