Longtime Edinburg resident Ciro Trevino was recently honored for his contributions to the Edinburg community and the Valley with his induction into the Rio Grande Valley Walk of Fame. Trevino was one of more than three dozen honorees that received a brick with their names on it. Trevino is a member of both the Edinburg school board of trustees and the Edinburg Housing Authority board of commissioners. The former Hidalgo County tax collector also served as an Edinburg City Council member. He continues to be very active in the community. The Walk of Fame is located at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo and was created as part of the 2005 Border Fest by the City of Hidalgo, BorderFest Association, Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce and City of Hidalgo Texas Municipal Facilities Corp. The inductees were chosen by a commission representing South Texas chambers of commerce, journalists and communities.
