It’s another beautiful week in the Rio Grande Valley…

Congratulations to Amy & Dan Seitz on the arrival of their grandson, Andrew Wetten Seitz. Proud parents Kelly & Trey Seitz, along with big brother Thomas welcomed this sweet boy on October 26, 2010. Baby Andrew and his family will spend Christmas in the Valley before returning to their home in Abu Dhabi.

My apologies for a quite belated birthday wish to Brandon Wallace! Celebration of Brandon’s big 3-0 included good food and great company, including Bob & Karen Wallace, Linda Catarusso, Austin Miller, Linda Carruth, Ashley & Andrew Pape, Tory & Felo Guerra, Tiffany & Patrick Horne, Kacey & Kyle Ruppert and Laura & Charlie Downing, among many others.

Was in Houston recently and got to spend some time with a few family friends who grew up in the Valley — Terry Graham Hightower, Alice Valverde Tutt, and Cami Haugarth Hardee.

Enjoyed seeing fellow Leadership McAllen classmates Lesly Chavez, Cesar Suarez, Robbie Ramirez, Erika Morales, Annie King, Carolina Civarolo and others at our recent class that focused on McAllen City Services. Included was a tour of the Water Treatment Plant and a City Hall tour led by Explore McAllen folks Laura Morales, Rob Liendo, Roy Cantu, and Jim Bob Sides. We learned so much from guest speakers Philip Brown of McAllen Miller Airport, Elvira Alonzo of Public Works, Sally Gavlick from Parks & Rec, and City Manager Mike Perez. Especially interesting was the growing and successful recycling program and the many new beautiful parks planned for the near future!

Attended the Mission Chamber of Commerce Buenas Tardes Luncheon and saw new director Matt Ruszczak, as well as Jessica Leija, Alex Garcia, Lyn Konig, Steve Johnson and Mary Martinez.

Am happy to report that the Aggie Alumni prevailed at the recent Aggies vs Longhorns scholarship event at Roosevelts at 7. Took advantage of a beautiful evening and visited with Alison Jones and Lauren Harrison on the patio. Also saw: Bill & Kathy Dickey, Rene Rodriguez, Nina Rodriguez, Omar de Leon, Kristina Salinas, Omar Cavazos, and Amy Booth.

Birthday wishes for this week go belatedly to Joe Blas. Today, Amy Hall, Roxie Gray and Chanel Cantu will celebrate, while Chelsea Feller, Breidi Toney and Cindy Kotzur Atkinson have birthdays tomorrow. Weekend birthday wishes go to Jerry Sanchez, Nick Consiglio, James Canter, and Nancy Dillard. Happy Birthday, everyone!!

Mark your calendars for these upcoming events…
