Amy Seitz

Best wishes for their happy future wedded life go out to Jan Fletcher & Randy Slifka, who married on August 7, 2010. Her parents are Pat & Joe Fletcher . . .

Also married on August 7, 2010, best wishes go out to Anissa Medina & Jeffrey Couvillon . . .

Enjoyed meeting professional and pretty Yselda Garza, who does timely work at the social security office in McAllen. Thank you for your help, Yselda . . .

And my thanks also go to Blanca Zuniga at Fiesta Cleaners, who has helped me straighten out clothing . . .

Played bridge with Jackie Jones, who is back from Ruidoso, New Mexico, and ready to play! In fact, she was the only winner, as Margaret Colley, Ann Moore, and I found out to our sorrow . . .

Not only did Trudie Abbott do that same only-winner thing to her friends across the room, but Nancy Cosby had won very big from her own family mere days earlier. Some days the cards are just aligned . . .

Since I’d had a similar experience the week before with only-winner Mel Johnstone, maybe I should consider taking a little time off? No, that’s just so wrong — we are supposed to go out and try again, aren’t we?

Met friendly checker Brenda Gonzalez and helpful sacker Roland Zamora at the H-E-B on Shary and Expressway 83. Yes, that H-E-B even had Greek yogurt for my new key lime pie recipe. This is a low-fat recipe from Cook’s Country, so I’ll let you know next week how it tasted . . .

Saw the Gurwitz family out to eat together at the Patio on Guerra, the group including Bailey, Gary, Stefani, and Danny Gurtwitz, and Bailey’s sister Mallory . . .

Small world — turns out that our server at the Patio on Guerra, Griselda Sotelo, is a cousin of our long-time family acquaintance, Dr. Oscar Sotelo. And there I thought the last name was a coincidence . . .

Wow — several McAllen Country Club women golfers played very well at last week’s All Valley tournament. Faith Wilsher shot an 81, and Keesha Zey shot a personal best 80, with her team winning low net on the Shary Golf Course . . .

Talked to Margaret Baltis, who is not a year older despite this columnist’s accidental birthday listing for her last week. Don’t know what list I was perusing . . .

Purse alert! Next Tuesday, August 24th, Easter Seals of the Rio Grande Valley is once again having their very fun Power of the Purse fundraiser. Call their office for more information and tickets at 631-6171. Tickets may also be purchased at Trappings, ArtLine America, or from any committee member . . .

Last week, on August 11th, Dagny Strait at Brookhaven celebrated her 100th birthday, helped along with the celebration by her two friends, Lois and Susie Ellison. Way to go Dagny . . .

Two birthday celebrants for yesterday were Marcia Ingram and Ella de la Rosa . . .

Celebrating birthdays today are my birthday buddies Berta Guerra, Maria Elena Useda, and Mario Hinojosa; while Mary Nell de la Garza can blow out her candles tomorrow . . .

Note to all readers: the following phone number is not the newspaper’s phone number; it is a number just for this column, just for this week. Call in your ÒI See YouÓ news to 802-8056, e-mail to amyseitz47@yahoo.com, or mail to the Town Crier. Remember, one week ahead!
