As part of the Outdoor Concert Series, the McAllen Chamber of Commerce will bring a night of live entertainment, food and outdoor fun for music lovers in the area.
The concert series are held at the historic Archer Park on the first Friday of the month and at the McAllen Convention Center grandstand on the third Friday of the month.
This week’s concert will start at 7 p.m. at the grandstand, next to the reflecting pool at the McAllen Convention Center and will be free to the public. Refreshments and alcohol, as well as food will be sold at the convention center.
People attending the event are encouraged to bring blankets and picnic baskets to relax and enjoy the live music that will be performed by this week’s three bands: Sumo, an acoustic, folk band; Ram Danesse and the Trio, a rock/blues/alternative band and Big League, an Indie/Jungle/Rock band.
The Outdoor Concert Series put on by the McAllen Chamber of Commerce features a variety of live bands from around the Rio Grande Valley selected with the help of M3 Productions, a production company, who are tenants at the McAllen Creative Incubator.
In its second year, the number of people attending the concert has varied from 150 to over 275 from the last concert that took place on Archer Park last week.
Greg Schuller, cultural arts director, said the McAllen Chamber of Commerce felt that it was time to bring live music to the public and started the Outdoor Concert Series and Music Afterhours. “The city of McAllen decided a concert series like this would highlight the local musical talent in the area.”
Concerts will be held at the McAllen Chamber Creative Incubator 1001 S 16th Street if weather is inclement. Contact the McAllen Chamber for more information at (956) 687-2787.
