Grandparental congratulations go out to Darlene & Jack Hart, who have had another precious granddaughter added to their family. Their son and daughter-in-law, Jasen & Melissa Hart, became the parents of a baby girl, Lillian Lee, born on May 12, 2010, in Boerne. Little Lily is very welcome into the family . . .

More on the May 22nd wedding of Kim Brooks and Ryan Barnett. Heard from one of my secret sources that not only did the young couple have a beautiful wedding in San Antonio, but they then went on a honeymoon cruise to someplace idyllic! And her parents, Debbie & Eldon Brooks, can now relax! (Turns out that Ryan is a Methodist minister who was introduced to the love of his life by a friend and fellow minister, who of course performed the ceremony.)

Enjoyed seeing Rheta & Gary Mosher, Connie Smith, Hermi Forshage, Gene Schnose, Darlene Schaefer, and Beverly Miller among the fun-loving players at Bridge at Cimarron for the May game . . .

Met Lauren Espinoza, Aquatics Director at McAllen Country Club, when our book club held our May meeting in the pool house — fun for all. We figured out that French folks in the 1880s had a great time! While you’re at it, think about signing up your child or grandchild for swimming lessons — which will not at all be related to life in France a century ago . . .

Among the staff who have given up such great service at our last several meals at the Patio on Guerra, we have to thank our waitress Jeanette Mora, barkeep Raul Gonzalez, bar manager Luis Martinez, and manager Juan Mussenten. And of course we ran into owner Art Guerra during our last visit, and admired the art work furnished by owner Che Guerra . . .

Heard from Pam Moore that her son and his family, Fred & Mende Moore of Allen, Texas, and their children Myles & Melissa traveled to see what was possibly the last take-off of the space shuttle Atlantis. An awe-inspiring moment in time . . .

Saw Geen Wilkins, who can relax since all of her moving is done! (Practically all done.) Also heard that her and Tom’s granddaughter, Meagan Wilkins, whose parents are C. C. & Mark, sang a solo at Travis Junior High’s end-of-the-year concert, as did Kirby Collier, whose parents are Kristi & Kevin Collier. O.K., and Kirby’s grandparents are Mel & Tim Johnstone. Just ask a grandparent about a grandchild, if you want to start a conversation . . .

For yesterday, Ashlee Cox and Connie Cappon welcomed the month of June with birthday cake!

Happy June 2nd birthday today to Linda Cattaruzza, Margarita Salinas, Debbie Ingram, and Pat Pricer; y Feliz Cumpleanos! for tomorrow to Jessica Galvan Kasier, Sandra Thomas, and Gail Ewing . . .

Happy birthday coming up for this Friday, June 4th, to my friend and fellow book-lover, Virginia Skloss, as well as to Monica Rivera and Madeline Scalise . . .

And I actually can’t forgot these ladies who will celebrate on Saturday the 5th — another book-lover Karen Hunke, as well as good neighbor Anne Cragg, Stephanie Cullum, Christi Maldonado, and Debbie Morrow, a birthday club buddy of mine . . .

This one was a call-in, so happy birthday to Werner Doering for next Monday, June 7th. Don’t forget to leave a phone number for verification if you call me with a message. And thank you to all call ins!

Friends of the McAllen Library will sponsor a fabulous book sale next Saturday, June 5th, at the 501 N. Main location. Books will be sold at the incredible price of $3 a bag, so get in there! Don’t forget, because this is a great chance to pick up some summer beach reads!

Note to all readers: the following phone number is not the newspaper’s phone number; it is a number just for this column. Call in your “I See You” news to 686-8056.
