The City of Edinburg and Villa de Santiago in Nuevo Leon agreed to become “sister cities” at a special signing ceremony on March 23. Edinburg Mayor Richard Garcia and Mayor Edelmiro Cavazos Leal of Santiago are shown signing the agreement, which is a pledge for international assistance to promote both municipalities across the border. Santiago is a city located in the center of Nuevo Leon approximately 20 minutes south of Monterrey, and is home to the “Cola de Caballo” waterfall and “La Boca” Dam. At the event, Garcia spoke about the cooperation among the two cities even with rising border violence in the region.
