EDINBURG – Catherine Domain, an ex-NICU night shift nurse with Valley roots and an extensive management background, is the newest member of the team at Edinburg Regional Medical Center and Edinburg Children's Hospital. As Chief Nursing Officer for both campuses, Domian will be responsible for directing the nursing staff toward success, patient satisfaction and safety initiatives, and employee engagement.

"When you have happy employees, you have happy patients," Domian said. "I plan on being visible with all staff - not just the day shift. I'll be there when they have a concern or a question."

Listening, Domian said, is an important quality to have as a Chief Nursing Officer. "I'm excited to be here," the 42-year-old mother of three boys said. "I'm excited to see some of the great things we can accomplish together."

Prior to joining ERMC and ECH, Domain held the position of Chief Nursing Officer at North Central Baptist in San Antonio for four years. Some prominent accomplishments while at North Central Baptist included improving inpatient satisfaction scores to the 92nd percentile from the 20th percentile, decreasing RN turnover by 50% in one year, and enhancing services in the neonatal intensive care unit.

"I am delighted to welcome Catherine ‘Cat' Domain to the Edinburg campuses and I know her extensive healthcare experience will assist us in achieving our goals to excel in creating successful outcomes," said Steven Foster, Chief Operation Officer for ECH, ERMC and Edinburg Regional Rehab Center.

ERMC and ECH are subsidiaries of South Texas Health System and Universal Health Services. ERMC is a 130-bed acute care hospital. Edinburg Children's Hospital has 107 licensed beds, and is the freestanding pediatric hospital in South Texas. ECH is dedicated to general pediatrics, diagnostic cardiology and surgical services, has the only Emergency Department in the Valley just for kids, and is the only Asthma Center of Excellence in Texas.
