An Edinburg Marine serving in Afghanistan has been severely wounded, and is now receiving treatment in Germany, the city announced Monday.
Sgt. Jacob de la Garza is undergoing surgery, and may undergo a partial amputation, according to a city press release. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately known as of Monday.
“He is doing a lot better,” said brother Javier De La Garza, who is an investigator at Edinburg PD. “We’re just waiting to see how he comes out.”
More updates to follow on the story as details are released.
The Edinburg Review wishes the De La Garza family well throughout this ordeal.
