Ramirez named to Texas Transportation Institute Advisory Council

South Texas law enforcement receive forfeiture funds

McALLEN – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the FBI, and other federal partners on Thursday distributed the bulk of $29.5 million in "asset sharing" funds to 12 south Texas law enforcement agencies.

City of McAllen launches biggest loser challenge for employees

McALLEN – To promote health and fitness for its employees, the City of McAllen asked for participants to compete in a three month health and fitness challenge to see who is the "McAllen's Biggest Loser." The nine participants who chose to take the challenge were weighed in two weeks ago and will have to lose weight to win the title.

McAllen Metro ridership up 50% with new schedule

McALLEN – The City of McAllen's public transportation system, Metro McAllen, had a spike in ridership for the month of January 2012, an increase of 50 percent when compared to January of 2011. The data reflects one month of expanded service hours; overall ridership is up 24 percent for the first quarter from last year.
