The first item of business consisted of a review, or canvassing of the final results from the Tax Ratification Election. Board members then approved the results. These steps were needed to legally finalize the election process. The results show 504 votes for, 69 against.

The sale of 24.3 acres of land owned by the district was approved. The land is located near the intersection of Five Mile and Conway in Alton. The purchase price to be paid to the district is $1.2 million.

Approval was given for two purchases over $50,000. Remaining federal stimulus funds will be used for both purchases. The EduSmart Science program will serve grades K-2 and Cinch Science will serve grades 5-12.

Administration said these electronic resources will not only help provide needed additional resources for teachers in the area of Science, but they are also bilingual and will help address those needs as well. The Cinch program cost is $78,717. The EduSmart program cost is $63,672.

Board Highlights is designed to be a brief review of actions taken by the Mission CISD Board of Trustees. It is not, nor should it be considered official minutes of the Board of Trustees meeting(s).
