Jesus "Chuy" Ryan passed away at Rio Grande Regional Hospital on Friday, Jan. 23, at the age of 84 years.
Mr. Ryan was born in St. Louis, Ill., May 6, 1924 to Micaela Perez and Matias Ryan. He was preceded in death by his son, Leonel, a daughter, Laura, his wife Maria Elena; brothers Nicholas "Nico" Perez, and his parents.
He is survived by two sisters, Maria Ryan Holmes of Edinburg, and Olga Longoria from Fillmore, Calif.; two nephews, Carlos Ortiz from Houston
and Gilberto Ortiz of Edinburg.
"Chuy" served in the Navy during World War II. He lived at "The Towers" senoir citizen apartments for several years. He ended his life as a resident at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in McAllen. His family expresses its gratitude to the staff and residents of both places for
sharing their lives and assiting Mr. Ryan during his stay. A special thanks also to nurse Noelia Martinez with Sunglo Home Health Services for rendering friendship and excellant medical care to Chuy during his final months.
The family will receive friends and family on Monday Jan. 26, at the Gonzalez Family Funeral Home, 812 E. Cano, from 10 a.m. to1 p.m. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral arrangements and services have been entrusted to the care of Marc A.
