Amado Cano Jr., 77, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Edinburg Children's Hospital in Edinburg.

He was born on January 22, 1932 to Amado Cano Sr. and Josefina Agripina Cantu. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg.

Amado is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Martinez Cano; sons, Ramiro (Minerva) Cano, Alfonso (Criselda) Cano, Alfredo (Dorothy) Cano, Rolando, Cano, and Rogelio (Maribel) Cano, daughter; Irma (Ricardo) Ramos; sisters, Carolina Cano, Sofia Cano, and Belen Cano, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Amado is preceded in death by his parents; son, Amado Cano III, and brothers, Manuel Cano Sr., Gustavo Cano, and Benancio Cano.

Family received friends on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Christian mass was held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial followed to City of San Juan Cemetery. Having the honor of serving as pallbearers were Ricardo Cano, Benancio Cano, Ruben Cano, Manuel Cano Jr., Jaime Cano, and Arnoldo Cano. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
