Piedad Mandujano entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 23, at McAllen Medical Center. She was born in Edinburg on Sept. 16, 1932 to Luis G. Ortiz and Eulalia S. Ortiz.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Luis Ortiz Jr., Alejandro Ortiz; and sister, Elma Ortiz

Piedad is survived by her husband, Carlos Mandujano; son, Orlan (Amelia) Mandujano; daughter, Marla Mandujano; granddaughter, Alexandria Mandujano; brother, Paulino (Carolina) Serda; sisters, Irma O. Gonzalez, Minerva (Gustavo) Santos, Elma (Eloy) Gonzalez; sister-in-law, Hermila Ortiz, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Piedad was a dedicated teacher, having devoted her professional life to the teaching of Language and Learning Disabled students. Her students remember her as a caring educator who made learning enjoyable and creative especially for the holidays. She was a graduate of the University of Texas-Pan American. Piedad worked for the Hidalgo, Monte Alto and La Villa School Districts. She will be deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 25, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home. Christian mass will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Christian burial will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home.
