Julia P. Rodriguez, 80, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at McAllen Medical Center.
Mrs. Rodriguez was born and raised in Edinburg and was co-owner of city-cab company for 22 years. It was her idea of installing two-way radios to the taxi cabs and this was the reason this business was so successful. It went on to be one of the first taxi cab business in the Valley with two-way radio communication.
She was a loving and caring person, a role model for her children. She was a caregiver for both of her parents for many years and a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt to all her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She enjoyed music, shopping and socializing with friends and family, and she was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed going to the beach with family and grandchildren and vacationing in Vegas. She gave unconditional love to all her family and she will truly be missed by all her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hector (Chi-Chi) M. Rodriguez; a grandson, Victor Arnoldo Rodriguez; her parents, Daniel and Matilde Peralez; a brother, Jose Francisco Peralez.
Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by a daughter, Ofelia (Juan Casas) Alonzo of McAllen; three sons, Felix Rodriguez, Arnoldo (Lupita) Rodriguez and Hector (Gloria) Rodriguez all of Edinburg; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Maria Victoria Amolotti of San Diego, California.
Visitation was held December 1, 2008 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton Road in Edinburg.
Funeral service were held Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
