Carolina “Carol” Nino Garza, 69, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, January 24, 2009, in Edinburg at her home surrounded by family.

She was born in Edinburg on June 15, 1939 to Miguel Nino and Carolina Ochoa. Carol, as she liked to be called, was preceded in death by her parents and sister; Mary Obregon.

She was a loving and devoted wife of 51 years to Santos “Tito” Garza, Jr. and mother of six adoring children; Eduardo “Eddie” Garza, Velma Ruiz, Toni Sherrod, Tito Omar Garza, Mark Garza, and Venessa “Debbie” Rosales. She was also blessed to have 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her two sisters; Julia Soto and Ninfa Leal.

She and her husband owned and operated the Colonel Grill and Restaurant in Edinburg for over 14 years.

Family received friends and family at the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. A prayer service was heldat El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, 705 E. University Dr. in Edinburg. A Christian service was held on Monday at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church. Christian burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Pallbearers were Eric Garza, Michael James Garza, Christopher Ruiz, Christian Ruiz, Mark Garza, Tito Omar Garza, and Joseph Sherrod. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg.
