McALLEN South Texas College's Gateway to College Program is hosting a free information session on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the college's Technology Campus Auditorium located at 3700 West Military highway in McAllen.

If you or someone you know is a young adult aged 16 to 21 and dropped out of high school or are significantly behind in credits and unlikely to graduate, this information session is important to attend. The Gateway to College Program is a free program that enables participants to earn their high school diploma requirements while simultaneously earning college credit toward an associate degree or certificate.

There are openings for 50 Mission CISD and 50 McAllen ISD students for the fall 2011 cohort. Students must meet specific criteria for entrance into the program and will be dually enrolled at their school district and South Texas College until they complete their high school diploma. Tuition and books are free for enrolled students.
