MISSION Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) students recently completed on-line testing for competition. Nine of the students scored well enough to advance to the Area VII competitions to be held in January and will join other students who will compete in leadership events.

Ana Hernandez placed third in Clinical Nursing, Liliana Briseno placed ninth in Dental Spelling, Ruby Adame placed tenth in Nurse Assisting, Kayla Espinoza placed tenth in Veterinary Science.

Out of 956 students who competed in the Kaiser Permanente Scholarship exams, five are advancing to the area competitions. They are: Tevin Luna, 7th; Cristina Zarate, 32nd; Ruby Adame, 67th; Tiffany Rodriguez, 74th; Xavier Yepez, 75th.

Quite a few students also performed admirably, but did not qualify for advancement. They are: Laura Ramos, Clinical Nursing; Ayssa Salinas and Cristina Zarate, Forensics; Ben Garcia, Pathophysiology; Jennifer Garcia, Veterinary Science; Maria Fuentes, Andres Vecchio , Epidemiology, Jackie Lara, Nurse Assistant; Kassie Aguilera, Medical Terminology; Andrew Estrada, Nutirition; Clarissa Pena, Veronica Almendarez, & Kaitlyn Perez, Kaiser Permanente Scholarship.
