PHARR SpawGlass, currently constructing the new H-E-B Plus in Pharr, donated hundreds of school supplies to PSJA ISD as well as a $5,000 check as part of their community program designed to give back to area schools.

"SpawGlass is deeply entrenched in our community," Laurel Ehsai, SpawGlass field services support/marketing coordinator said. "We realize the responsibility to give back to the community that supports us in so many ways because having a stake in our community's welfare ensures our own success."

The company invited district representatives to join them at their "Topping Out" celebration last August to commemorate the subcontractors, owners and community, as well as to present these generous donations to the PSJA School District. The new H-E-B in Pharr is set to open next month.

"It is important to incorporate our school districts at all of our events to make sure that the children of that community have the tools needed to succeed during the school year," Ehsai said. "Our subcontractors and owners are so responsive during these times and never fail to help meet the needs of children. At this event, we are proud that we have collected many school supplies and also a monetary donation from our partners."

The school supplies were given to PSJA elementary campuses at the beginning of the school year and the check donation will be invested in the district's college readiness program, which is currently working on providing college going opportunities for all students.
