MISSION – Eager readers at Mims Elementary School have not only set a school record but have also set a new high for the number of students who have read over a million words during a school year.
They have 65 students who have earned the title of Millionaires in the Accelerated Reader program. That is over ten percent of the 560 students who participated in the program. Each of the Mims Millionaires earned a special backpack and a shopping spree at the school's end of year book fair. Fourth grader, Isaac Ramirez also set a new campus record by reading 5,121,345 words this school year.
This record number of Mims Millionaires includes, from the second grade, Maielah Davis.
