Former Econ mentor Oscar Salinas is back in the business after a brief respite. After 11 seasons with the Jags, he is now the head coach at La Feria High School, where he will attempt to return the Lions to the playoffs.

Salinas, who coached on the East Side from the school’s inception in 2000 until last fall, was an assistant at La Feria in the 1990s before coming to Econ. He takes over a Lion squad that was 5-5 under Bo Camacho, who resigned after the season.
