The tough times continued for the city schools over the weekend, as all three lost for the second straight outing. EHS got clobbered by No. 1 Harlingen 42-14, scoring a couple of times late to avoid a shutout on the road. Econ got wasted by Harlingen South 44-7.

The Bobcats (0-1 in District 31-5A, 2-2 overall) look to regain their winning ways this week at home against always tough Pharr North (1-0, 3-1) while the Jags (0-1, 0-4) are on the road against P-SJ-A (1-0, 1-3).

Econ continued to move the ball well with 320 rushing yards, getting 100-yard days from Bubba Villarreal and Mark Villegas. But the defense was gutted for 453, with the Jags falling behind 24-0 at the half.

Edinburg was limited to 252 total yards to 416 for the Cards, and quarterback Alex Cantu was knocked out with an injury. The Bobcats allowed more than 300 yards for the third game in a row.
