Volleyball is in full tournament mode now, as all three city schools were active over the weekend.

The Lady Bobcats have been running loads of kids in and out of the lineup in the early going in the attempt to find the right combinations for the upcoming district late. EHS lost three and won one at the Mission Tournament.

Veterans Anissa Gonzalez, Dani Vela, Myranda Hinojosa, Bri Detwiler, and Tori de Leon have been joined by a plethora of noobs, including Z Borrego, working at libero right now with de Leon in back; Borrego saw time in last year's squad. Newcomers making a splash off the bat include spingy Cristian Hernandez, rangy Brittany Salinas, and Miranda Washington, among others. EHS was to play at Donna Tuesday.

Also at the Mission Tournament, Econ beat Brownsville schools Hanna and Lopez but lost to Mission. Against the Lady Eagles, the Orange won Game One but then dropped two in a row to the foe. Saturday, the Lady Jags faced off against Rowe for fourth place, losing in three sets. Econ gets Pace at home Tuesday.

North defeated its rival EHS but dropped one against Rivera, following a Game One loss with an easy 25-9 result before falling in Game Three 25-19. The Lady Coogs then swept by Brownsville Pace Saturday in the consolation final, in preps for Tuesday's home game against Grulla.

Before the weekend action, North was ranked No. 7 in the Valley with the Lady Jags No, 8.
