The Roadrunners finished the weekend with a sharp doubleheader sweep of McAllen, marking a current hot streak during which the team has won four in a row and five of six to rise to within two games of .500 at 14-16.

Toro Trevino and Jorge Quintero each had solid outings Sunday at The Stadium, and each picked his second win of the year. In the opener, Trevino (2-0) went six innings and the ‘Runners scored seven runs early to take control for an 8-2 victory. Then, Quintero allowed just one hit through six in his best outing of the year, a 4-1 win. All the guys would need in a 7-inning game (in which there was just five total hits) was a 2-run homer by R.J. Harris in the second, his first of 2011.

Edinburg was to finish the series against the Thunder Monday and then begin a 5-game tilt with the WhiteWings over in Harlingen. The ‘Runners will be home again July 2-8, with McAllen and Harlingen coming to town.

Infielder C.J. Beatty had had the hot hand as of late, raising his average well above .300, and Saturday he drive in four runs to support a winning mound effort from Scott Wingo (2-2). Gabe Memmert (.325) and Stantrel Smith (.330) are the leading bangers in the lineup, with Beatty at .322 after the weekend.

Aaron Guerra threw a shutout in his last start, Friday night, and has a 2.77 ERA so far. Friday and Sunday saw double dips at The Stadium after two ball games were rained out early last week.

Due to the recent winning streak, the team is now only three games back in the South Division of the North American League, with San Angelo in first and the Wings two marks ahead of Edinburg.
