The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced Sunday that, with the third pick of opponents for the first round of the 2011 NBA Development League Playoffs, they chose the sixth-seeded Bakersfield Jam.
Game one will take place on Friday at 9:00 p.m. at the Jam Events Center. The Vipers will host games two and three (if necessary) on Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13 at 7:00 p.m. at State Farm Arena.
Single-game playoff tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through the Vipers, Ticketmaster or the State Farm Arena box office.
The Vipers (33-17) went 2-2 against the Jam (29-21) this season, splitting a series at State Farm Arena in December and splitting a series at the Jam Events Center in March.
The winner of this series will face the winner of the series between the second-seeded Reno Bighorns and the fifth-seeded Erie BayHawks.
Each of the three rounds of the playoffs uses a best-of-three format, with the lower seed hosting game one and the higher seed hosting games two and three if necessary.
Last season the second-seeded Vipers defeated the sixth-seeded Bighorns two games to one in the first round, the third-seeded Austin Toros two game to one in the Semifinals and the eighth-seeded Tulsa 66ers in a two-game sweep in the Finals.
