Luis Cantu, an electronics engineering graduate of the Instituto TecnolÓgico Regional de Reynosa, has joined the McAllen Chamber of Commerce as the Vice President of Community Development and Inter American Relations. He began serving in his position on July 27.
Cantu is a native of Houston, where he lived his childhood. He then lived and worked in Mexico for more than 20 years and has been a proud McAllen resident for the past nine years.
Cantu has a diverse professional background, having worked in computer software development for Mexican oil contractor companies, manufacturing plants engineering, project management and customer liaison between international customers and Mexico operations.
Besides English, Cantu speaks fluent Spanish. He is bi-cultural which will benefit in promoting McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley to Mexican markets.
"I am excited about joining the McAllen Chamber staff and look forward to utilizing my skills to assist the McAllen business community in growing its relations within Mexico and providing with events to develop the Rio Grande Valley community" said Cantu.
