Burr!† Gosh itís been cold here in the Valley lately.† Looking at the calendar we should be concluding these major cold fronts that have struck us for the third time in less than a month.† While I was looking at the calendar, hoping for better weather, I realized something.† I am only a month away from my spring break golf camp for junior golfers ages 6 years old to 12 years old.†

Next, for the first time since 2008, we saw the world's 1-3 ranked players paired together† (Westwood, Kaymer, Woods).† The European Tour event took place in the UAE.† Tiger Woods was one shot behind starting the final round but failed to play well and shot 75 resulting in a mediocre finish.† Alvaro Quiors of Spain won the event.† Additionally, Tiger Woods was fined a reported amount of $16,000 for spitting on the greens.† I hope those European Officials donít ever come to Texas because players here in Texas enjoy packing a dip and playing golf.† In fact I could name at least a half dozen PGA Pros who do that here in the RGV.† However, I canít stand the taste of the stuff and I truly think itís a nasty habit.† Meanwhile, DA Points won the ATT at Pebble Beach and Tom Lehman won on the Champions tour in Boca Raton.† The LPGA has a new #1 world ranked player.† Yani Tseng from Taiwan won a European event in Australia to garner womenís world # 1 ranking.† The Ryder Cup is two years away. The PGA of America and Europe announced that Davis Love III was named as the captain of the USA Team and Jose Maria Olazabal was named captain of the European team.

Yesterday, a low handicap member came to me citing that he wasnít making enough 12-25 foot putts.† Here is my drill, which can help players of all levels.† Hit 2 balls starting from 12,15,18,21,24 foot putts.† Any putt holed on the first try is worth 2 points and any putt finishing 3 feet behind the hole is worth 1 point.† Any putt finishing anywhere else is worth 0 points.† Your quota doing this drill is to score 10 points with 10 balls.† Achieve this goal and I am sure you will improve.

I enjoy giving away free lessons so here is this weekís trivia question.† The first correct reply sent to† will.borowski@ourclub.com will get a free lesson from yours truly.† The first hole at Cimarron is a Par 5.† If I were to score a par on this hole what is my gross score?† If you think you might know the answer send your reply to the above email address.† Also, I enjoy hearing from our readers so please feel free to send me any questions, comments, or concerns to that same email listed above.

Until next timeÖ.see you at the lesson tee.
