It's another beautiful week in the Rio Grande Valley ...

Had an absolutely delicious meal at Alhambra with friends recently celebrating the birthday of Ashley Curran. Thoughtfully arranged by Ashley's hubby, Eric Curran, dinner consisted of several courses of tapas-style appetizers, an amazing family style paella main course, and mouth-watering chocolate bread pudding (complete with birthday candles, of course)! Celebrating along with the birthday girl and her spouse were Clara Chapa, Erica Gonzalez, Bonnie Cabrera, Seby Haddad, David Rodriguez, Ryan Kinkade and Clari Clare. Thanks to Chef James Canter and all the folks at Alhambra in McAllen for such a memorable evening and thanks to Ashley for having such a fun happy birthday dinner! J

Served as a judge at a battle of the hair show recently...yes, that's right-a Battle of the Hair!! Lluvia Linda Perez and the superwomen of Sassy Lady Event Productions recently put on a fantastic benefit show that showcased some amazingly creative, over-the-top, fabulous hair styles from local Valley salons. Eight salons competed for top honors, among them Avalon Salon, Frida Salon, Elegance, Dillard's, Regis, Studio, Foxy Lady and Exotic Salon. Elegance Salon was the champion, featuring a fabulous design including beautifully colored flowers crafted from the model's hair! Wow! Proceeds from this event went to the American Cancer Society to help fund local services providing wigs to women going through cancer treatments. Seen at this fantastic event were Kayla Dolezal, Jacqueline Mariie, Luisa Espinoza, Crystal Leal, Angelaa Briones, Vanessa Espinoza, Natita Castro, Leah Lowman, Carrie Pena-Gonzalez, Jiovanna Perez, Laura Molina, Jessica Gonzalez, Marinela Villarreal, Christy Johnson, Raquel Trevino, Kandie Lopez, Debanhi Cantu, Melissa Guy, Sheila Martinez and Liz Sauceda, just to name a few. What a fun event!!

Cancer180 is a part of the Anderson Network of MD Anderson Cancer Center, a group of programs that provide hope, support and understanding.
