Events you should know about...

It's beginning to look a lot like...DIAS FESTIVOS MARKETPLACE!!

The Junior League of McAllen is excited to present to you the 25th anniversary of this fabulous event. Start the marketplace weekend off right with a ticket to the Preview Party, during which Mrs. Yolanda Barrera will be honored with the 2011 Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award. Held on Thursday, December 1st, this is one of the most exciting parties of the year.

First, take photos with family and friends on the red carpet waiting for you as you enter the McAllen Convention Center before the going into the marketplace. Then, enjoy shopping from 7 pm to 9 pm, before live entertainment by The Renaissance Rockers, dinner and drinks. As you enter the marketplace, take some time to look around as our vendors put their fabulous items on display. After making your purchases, make your way to the Grand Ballroom for a look at silent and blackboard auction items. The awards ceremony and live auction will begin at 9 pm.

If a late night isn't your thing, but you still want to shop around comfortably before the crowd takes over for the weekend, then a ticket to the Preferred Shopping event is what you need. Enjoy champagne and hors d'oeuvres Friday, December 2nd from 10 am to noon. After that, we will open up the marketplace to the general public. A real deal at $35 a ticket since your ticket enables you to come back and enter the marketplace all weekend long. A limited number of tickets are available for this event. For tickets, call the Junior League of McAllen office at 682-0071.

A $5 general admission ticket will get you in the marketplace door on Friday, Noon-6pm; Saturday, 9am-6pm; or Sunday, 11am-5pm. You can make your holiday purchases from returning popular vendors like The Bell Collection and Baby Cha Cha. Or, if shopping for the man in your life, stop by and visit our new merchants, The Man Cave and The Sportsman's Edge. Before leaving to go home, you may want to stop by Guadalupe Original Foods or Cowboy Nut Shoppe to take a couple of packed items home for corporate gifts for clients or even just a quick snack. We're taking the stress out of shopping and providing you with a roadmap so you can locate all your favorite vendors easily when you walk in the door. Always a family event, Santa will also be there in case kids want their photos taken with him. Photos are $10. Santa has made time to come to Dias Festivos from 11am-3pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

A special thank you goes out to the community for supporting us all these years. Without you, none of this would be possible. And thank you to all the individuals that support this event through donations, event tickets, and even shopping. Dias Festivos Marketplace is a success because of your support and the support of the community. The money raised from this event goes directly back to improving the lives of our children and youth.

I wish you love & blessings in the coming week and I hope to "see you" soon!
