The Quinta Mazatlan Advisory Board announces the 5th Anniversary celebration for the urban sanctuary, Moon over Mazatlan. Chairman, Susie Robertson and committee have planned an enchanting Sunset Safari from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Sunset Drive in McAllen.
Wear your walking shoes as your journey will take you through the Thornforest. Stop and view live birds of prey and reptiles up close and personal. Jonathan Wood from the Raptor Project, Gladys Porter Zoo and the Peregrine Fund will be providing educational and entertaining information. You’ll also enjoy the Bronze animal sculptures by Douglas Clark generously sponsored by individuals and companies in the Valley.
Your journey will culminate at the Old Oak tree lit for your enjoyment. Playing will be Tish Hinojosa and her band from Austin. Tish gently melds pop, country, and norteno to produce enchanting music.
Other artists at the celebration include John and Edith Maskey with their exhibit “Places in the Sun” featuring a new custom painting of Quinta Mazatlan to help raise funds for the urban sanctuary. The donations from guests will go to create a natural habitat area with a large pond adjacent to the new children’s Discovery Center. The pond will provide hands-on science lessons for the children as well as attract and support birds and other wildlife.
