Baby congrats go across the world to former McAllen resident and McHi alum Gili Bar-Yadin and his wife Keshet, of Israel, on the birth of their daughter Liya on January 6, 2009. Her name means “I am with God” . . .

The darling younger set honored at the recent Citrus Fiesta were Princess Anna 59th Ryann Avery Ramirez, Princess of Lemon Blossom Madison Nichole Gerlach, Princess of Lime Blossom Kayla Nicole Cantu, Princess of Tangerine Blossom Myrhissa Calen Ortega, and Princess of Red Grapefruit Blossom Jenna Renee Hardison . . .

At South Padre Island, Princess Jenna reigns supreme among the young fishergirls. Her family enjoyed cheering her on: mom and dad Leslie & Jasen, brothers Logan & Landon, grandmom Linda Downing, and grandparents Marilyn & Dave Hardison . . .

Surely you read last week’s interesting Town Crier article by Jane Talbot on the life of Lucile Hendricks. (If you didn’t go find a copy!) I’m just one of the legions of McAllen residents who have fond memories of Lucile . . .

Enjoyed talking to talented and enthusiastic Executive Director of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation, Laura Martinez Ilgun . . .

Saw many ladies enjoying Pan American Round Table Director Lily Torrez’s talk about her (legal) visit to Cuba when she taught with Semester at Sea. Lily’s group heard Dictator-at-the-time Fidel Castro give a looong soporific ramble . . .

For instance, saw Evangelina Campos, Marcia Ingram, Dilia Perez, Margarita Salinas, Adelina Garza, Violette Metz, Marcela Arrioja, Norma Gomez, and Yolanda Chapa among the interested audience . . .

Understand that Rachel Torres, the Junior League of McAllen’s VP Membership, is busily gearing up next year’s already outstanding provisional class — how does this group become better and better each year?

Just in case there is still room, Junior League sustainers are being hosted tomorrow at a Valentine luncheon by “hostess with the mostest” Susie Guidry and committee. You should have already called with your reservation, so if you need directions, call again at 631-4257 (or to see if they could possibly still squeeze you in!) . . .

Plan on going by the International Museum of Art & Science (1900 Nolana) to see artist Cande Aguilar’s exhibit World Affair . . .

Also, skeet shooters both experienced and novice will want to sign up for the “Shoot Out Hunger” tournament at 8 a.m. on February 21st at Trenton and Val Verde Road. U. S. Olympian Sean McLelland will participate, so help the Food Bank. Sign up at 682-8101 or kellio@foodbank.rgv.com . . .

Happy birthday for today to Jonathan Klement, Barbara Bledsoe, Marianne Hartness, Marlou Levine, and Nathan Rawls; and for tomorrow to Marcus Forthuber, Karen Muñoz, Olympia Peña, Stacey Schmidt, and Sylvia Williams . . .

Call in your “I See You” news to 686-8056, or mail to the Town Crier. Remember, at least one week ahead!
