Are you looking for something fun to do this summer? The Museum of South Texas History will hold a beginners, classical guitar class during June. The classes have been so well received for the past year, that the museum will offer two separate classes sessions to accommodate different schedules.

The first session will meet for four weeks in June from Monday-Thursday. The classes are one hour long and begin every hour from 10 to 2 p.m. This session is $200 for the month, with a special discount extended to FRIENDS. The weekday classes begin June 1.

A second session will meet over four Saturdays beginning on June 6. As with the four-day-a-week class, the Saturday classes will cover the same material over a month’s time. Due to their high demand, Saturday classes have four separate sessions, each beginning on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday only classes are $50 for the month, with a special discount extended to FRIENDS. The Saturday classes begin June 6.

Instructor Gilbert Taunton is an accomplished guitarist and has taught the musical art form across the Rio Grande Valley. He is a student at the University of Texas-Pan American, pursuing a degree in guitar. The classes have limited space, so early registration is necessary.

All materials will be provided, except for the guitar. For more information on the classes or to register, call Melissa Tijerina at 956-383-6911. The Museum of South Texas History is located on the Courthouse Square in Downtown Edinburg.
