Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Hidalgo County, Inc., along with many other community organizations, will hold a vigil on April 2 as part of a national movement to bring attention to the plight of abused and neglected children by lighting a tree as a symbol of hope for those children who are under the jurisdiction of the county child protection court. Hidalgo County will join hearts with others across the nation and the Lights of Hope will be turned on to commemorate all the children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
Several community organizations are participating in the Vigil including Family and Protective Services, Child Protection Court, Childrenís Defense Fund, Communities in Schools, Hidalgo County Child Welfare Board, Hidalgo County Judgeís Office, Lutheran Social Services, Pathways, United Way, Upper Valley Community Partners, and A World for Children.
The Vigil will begin at 6 p.m. at the Hidalgo County Courthouse east entrance, 100 N. Closner, Edinburg. Two Continuing Education Units (CEUíS) will be offered for Marriage and Family Therapists, Social Workers, and License Professional Counselors.
