See model airplanes take to the sky at the 2009 R/C Airshow at the Mid Valley Airport in Weslaco, on February 6 through 8.
The air show is presented by the Tejas Radio Control Association, a local organization dedicated to the building and flying of radio controlled (R/C) model airplanes.
Gates at the Weslaco Mid Valley Airport, located on Airport Drive, just north of Exp. 83, will open at 9 a.m. The general public is invited to view a sensational presentation by model aircrafts leaving the runway and soaring in the air before preparing for a landing. The airport will be closed to full size airplanes to make room for the airshow.
Spectators can watch the show each day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. All types of R/C model airplanes, such as multi wing, high wing and low wing, jets, war planes, pattern planes, aerobatic planes, helicopters, and dog fights, will be taking flight. All model airplanes will be grounded each day between 12 and 1 p.m. for the public to get a close up view of the planes.
The air show promises to be fun for all ages and will feature on-site food concessions. Bleachers will be available for the public, or bring your lawn chairs and sunscreen, and enjoy the show.
Admission to the Winter Rally is $7 per car. For more information about the air show or directions to the airport, call (956) 969-0291 or visit www.tejasrcassociation.org.
