EDINBURG – The Friends of the Edinburg Library are looking for committed people who would like to make a difference in their community by being active advocates and supporters of the Edinburg Library and all the activities and programs that they provide.
If you love your Library and have asked yourself what could you do to be more supportive of it...then please join us for our annual Friends of the Edinburg Library Membership Drive and Reception this coming Monday, Oct. 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library, Edinburg's public library.
The Friends of the Edinburg Library is a private nonprofit organization that takes an active interest to enrich and enhance the library and community. They organize annual fundraisers and monthly book sales with proceeds going to the Library. They also sponsor special programs for children, teens and adults. In addition, the Friends present guest speakers during their monthly Brown Bag Luncheon and annual membership drive. The Friends are also looking for dedicated Friends to help with additional evening programs and events.
"Help us continue to fund educational library programs that benefit the entire community by joining the Friends of the Edinburg Library" says Ramon V. Vela, President of the organization. During the membership drive you will enjoy an evening of good food, entertainment and best of all develop special relationships with others that share the passion and interest of meeting the community's needs.
This year, the Friends have booked the quintet Ensamble La Mision. Ensamble La Mision is a musical group that plays eclectic and international music using a variety of ethnic and traditional instruments such as the flute, saxophone, violin, guitar, congas and other instruments. The family of five also sings original songs in English, Spanish, French, Catalan, Portuguese and Italian. This program promises to be both entertaining and educational.
