Thanks to a generous partnership with JCPenney Edinburg 20 Club members from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edinburg RGV were selected for a shopping spree. Each Member received a $40.00 gift card to purchase needed clothing for school and a backpack filled with supplies and personal care products.

Board members, lawyers, teachers and other caring adults were on hand to serve as “Shopping Buddies” for the chosen members. They were partnered with young shoppers to assist them in making money wise choices. The shopping buddies also spent quality time talking with our youth about doing well in school and achieving good grades. Board Member Todd Miller lead the rally by reciting the Club Code, followed by Chris Fuentes, JCPenney Store Manager, who recited The Student’s Pledge for School Success.

National Day for Kids mission was accomplished by caring adults that took time from their busy day to spend time with a child. This act of generosity will definitely make a lasting impact on those 20 lucky members.
