South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy (BETA) and South Texas Preparatory Academy (STPA) will host a Community Health Fair on Wednesday, March 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at BETA’s Juan C. Ortiz Gymnasium in Edinburg.

Open to the public, visitors can receive free vision, blood pressure and glucose checks, body mass index (BMI) measurements and many other health services. They can also pick up information and apply for federal and state social service programs, such as Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Lone Star food card. Senior citizens, families with young children and people with a family history of diabetes or heart disease are especially encouraged to attend the health fair.

At the event, refreshments and snacks will be provided. In addition to the free items and materials available at the booths, door prizes will be given away.

BETA and STPA are part of the South Texas Independent School District (STISD) Edinburg campus. The campus is located at the corner of Sugar Road and Sprague Street, in close proximity to the University of Texas-Pan American. For more information, call BETA at 956-383-1684.
