Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Joshua Cardenas graduated from the F-16 Integrated Avionics Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas.

The course is designed to train students to operate, maintain, remove, check, repair and install aircraft avionics systems; and analyze equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in avionics systems, radar, integrated test systems built-in-test, multiplexed data base systems, recording systems, fire control systems, video display systems, flight instrumental, mission computer systems, electro-optical viewing systems, inertial navigation systems, primary and secondary flight controls, automatic flight control, and engine instrumentation. Including aircraft systems such as fuel management, central air data, electronic warfare, sensors, communication and navigation, aircraft indicating, airborne warning and control, surveillance radar, joint surveillance target attack radar, and interrogator.

Cardenas is the son of Mary Cardenas of Iris Avenue, and John J. Cardenas, N. Bentsen Road, both of McAllen.

He is a 2005 graduate of James Nikki Rowe High School, McAllen.

He is assigned to the 149th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Kelly Field Annex, San Antonio.
