Hidalgo County District Clerk Staff presented a check today to CASA of Hidalgo in the amount of $2,500, as part of their Blues for Bucks Workplace Fundraising Campaign, which benefits local charitable organizations.
The program, which allows department staff to wear jeans every Friday in exchange for a $5 donation, was established in 2008. Since then the office has expanded it’s efforts through the creation of a “charitable organizations list” of which staff randomly selects a recipient every six months. Over the past seven years the district clerk office has collected over $51,000, which has gone to local charitable organizations throughout Hidalgo County.
“CASA of Hidalgo is a phenomenal organization that does a wonderful job advocating for children who otherwise may not have a voice to ensure their safety and well being,” said Hinojosa. “I am very pleased that my staff was able to contribute towards CASA’s efforts, which impact the lives of so many neglected and abused children in our community.”
The mission of CASA of Hidalgo County, Inc. is to speak for the best interest of the children in the courts by promoting and supporting quality volunteer representation to provide each child a safe, permanent and nurturing home. Their ultimate goal is to ensure that every child in Hidalgo County who needs a child advocate has one.
“The District Clerk's office has been supportive of our organization for the past few years. With their continued support, our organization has been able to advocate for more foster children in Hidalgo County. We truly appreciate their support,” said Diana Almaguer, Executive Director of CASA of Hidalgo.”
